Don’t miss your opportunity to honor an older adult in your community with a nomination to the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame
The deadline to nominate an outstanding older adult for the 2020 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame is Friday, Nov. 29, 2019.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.aging.ohio.gov/halloffame. Eligible nominees are native-born Ohioans or long-time Ohio residents age 60 and older who have contributed significantly to their communities, their lines of work, or other endeavors.

“Our older Ohioans have made and continue to make our state a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family,” said Ursel J. McElroy, director of the Ohio Department of Aging.

“The Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame honors individuals who demonstrate the value of engaging at any age.”

Recent inductees to the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame have included business leaders, doctors, scientists, veterans, politicians, athletes, artists, writers, volunteers, philanthropists, and more. Since 1976, more than 486 individuals have been inducted.

Inductees are chosen from public nominations and are evaluated on the scope and impact of their contributions begun or continued after age 60. Posthumous nominations are accepted, provided the date of death is within the last five years and the nominee was age 60 or older at the time of death. New members are inducted each May as the state and nation celebrate Older Americans Month.
