The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) is responsible for managing many vital programs that directly affect the lives of Ohioans. The agency’s mission is to improve the well-being of Ohio’s workforce and families by promoting long-term self-sufficiency and ensuring the safety of Ohio’s most vulnerable citizens.
Most ODJFS funding comes from the federal government. The agency distributes it to more than 150 partner agencies throughout the state, including:
- County departments of job and family services
- Public children services agencies
- Child support enforcement agencies
- Local workforce development boards
Programs ODJFS oversees include the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs. ODJFS also oversees ApprenticeOhio and OhioMeansJobs.com, Ohio’s premier online career and employment center.
