Broadcast Educational Media Commission

Seeks to expand the knowledge of Ohio's citizens through promotion of educational broadcasting products, funding of the state's broadcast affiliates and organizations, and collaboration with stakeholders and advocates of technology driven education.

The Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC) is a service organization providing central-casting of Ohio's 42 channels of Public TV on behalf of Ohio's eight public TV stations and providing video conferencing bridging services to K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and various state and local government agencies.

In addition, BEMC provides financial assistance to the Statehouse News Bureau, Ohio Government Telecommunications (The Ohio Channel), Ohio's public TV and radio stations, and several radio reading services for the visually impaired across the state. During FY16 and FY17, BEMC embarked on a critical modernization program for our broadcast operations. With nearly $3 million in capital funds, BEMC purchased all the needed equipment to modernize our broadcast operations.
