Front Page Features
The State of Ohio portal page features links to current, newsworthy state information and events in the "Features" section of Ohio.gov. The standards for selecting and publishing these links and the process for having them linked follows.
Standards
- The topic to be linked must be of general public interest. Topics of interest to only a specific audience should be avoided.
- The event or topic to be featured must be sponsored by a state office or agency.
- The verbiage on the link should fit in the "Features" section without wrapping; typically this means 35 characters or less.
- Featured items will not link to documents which require plug-in technology to be viewed. HTML pages are much preferred to PDF.
- Features should link directly to the information advertised, no to a general or front page.
- The page to which the feature links must identify the sponsoring agency and have navigation to the agency front page, the state portal page, and agency contact information.
- The linked page must be owned by the agency.
Process
- Link proposals should be submitted via the Request Form two weeks prior to requested publish date.
- The portal group reserves the right to negotiate all aspects of the link and page to be linked with the requesting agency.
- Authorization from the agency requesting the link must come from the agency webmaster and/or the agency communications department.
- Features will normally remain on the portal page for a maximum of two weeks. This timeframe can be altered depending on the appropriateness of the link and/or the competition for feature space.
